First off, this is not a label, it’s an anti-label! For some time now bands have been forced to self-publish just to be considered viable enough for a label to invest their time and money in. To get to that point you have to get published and be reviewed and to get reviewed you have to behave in a professional manner and look legitimate. One of the main ways that bands do this is by creating “Fake Labels” that “release the album.”
But why make up a label that is not capable of providing the benefits of a real label?
Why not make something real? An “anti-label” for the bands we love to be able to get the benefits of a real label, like the ability to negotiate distribution for a collection of artists etc. while not taking rights from the artists. Kind of a way for us to cross promote each other, gain exposure and tour support networks and share ads and bring full showcases to industry conferences/festivals (like most of us kind of do already) but with some organization and a name that’s tangible; printable.
NoMoreFakeLabels.com is a way of saying, “This is our industry and we choose to do it our way!” Making up fake companies is kind of insulting to both the industry and the artists. It devalues labels and it can sometime devalue an artist as well, so why bother? Isn’t this kind of oxymoronic? Do you seriously have to have a label to get heard by a label?? The answer is a resounding “NO!” At least not when you have friends like NoMoreFakeLabels.com!
Keep an eye on our artists because we will be adding new acts from time to time. KEEP INDIE ALIVE BUY INDIE MUSIC and SUPPORT INDIE ARTISTS!
